At the recent Strata Community Association Australasia (SCA) Australia and New Zealand conference in Sydney, our Founder, Michael Darby, had the pleasure of catching up with Jeevan D’Mello, President of the Community Associations Institute (CAI).

During their discussion, Jeevan passionately articulated that community management extends beyond mere maintenance of buildings and common properties. It is about fostering vibrant communities through what he describes as the “Phygital” concept – integrating digital technology to enhance management services while prioritising the human element and recognising that not all clients are technologically adept.

Jeevan also identified common challenges faced by community managers globally, summarised by the 5Ps: People, Parking, Pets, Payments, and Parties. His broad international experience has revealed that effective solutions are universally the same – empathy and active listening, aiming to understand rather than simply react.

Furthermore, Jeevan underscored the importance of lifelong learning, sharing the valuable insights and lessons he has gathered from his global travels with his work team. He also underscored the humility in that continuous learning from clients to keeps the team agile and honest, highlighting the significance of adaptability and understanding in effective community management.

At Quantum, we resonate deeply with these insights. Our values of connection, communication and education are at the core of our commitment to community management. We believe in leveraging technology to enhance our services while maintaining a personal touch, ensuring every client feels understood and valued. And by continuously learning from our clients and adapting to their needs, we strive to create thriving communities.
